FAQ

How Do I Send Artwork?
Submit artwork via our Artwork Upload Form (contact the Art Dept. for a username and login - select "Artwork" from the drop-down box).
All artwork (except for photo work) must be vector imagery. Here are the accepted vector file formats:

  • Pressready PDF
  • Corel Draw X3 (.CDR) - PREFERRED
  • Adobe Illustrator CS (.AI)
  • Encapsulated Postscript (.EPS)

What is "Press-ready"?
Before sending, making sure:

  • All text is converted to curves or outlines.
  • Color mode is CMYK.
  • Images under 11x17" are 300 DPI.
  • Images between 11x17" and 24x36" are 250 DPI.
  • Images larger than 24x36" are 150 DPI.
  • EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Be sure that the artwork has appropriate bleed, margin, and trim sizes for the given product. If you unsure about these terms, please research them before starting on your artwork, or give us a call for more specifics.

*If supplied artwork does not meet industry print standards, it will be rejected, at which point you will be notified and asked to make changes to your artwork. This may impact the production date and incur additional set-up charges, and your Ironjet representative will inform you of such changes before they are implemented.

What is Vector Imagery?
Vector artwork is created on a computer using CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator or any similar vector illustration software. Vector art is 'resolution-independent', meaning that it can be scaled up to any size without affecting the quality - it won't get blurry or jagged. Some examples of non-vector imagery:

  • Photographs
  • Photocopies/Faxes
  • .GIFs
  • .JPGs
  • Any physical piece of artwork (ie. business card, sticker, painting, etc.). These may be scanned, but the data will be recorded as a bitmap, not vector data.

Any file that doesn't meet these requirements will need to be vectorized by one of our graphic designers. Costs associated with vectorizing a piece of art vary depending on complexity, and clarity of the supplied image. If unsure of file format or specs, feel free to contact us prior to sending artwork.
